Sports Commission Logo Redesign
To celebrate their 20th Anniversary the Kansas City Sports Commission proposed a temporary logo redesign. Throughout the year, they would use this logo for brochures, t-shirts, business cards, and whatever other marketing materials they were producing.
I really fell in love with the first design I gave them. The Greco-Roman design really captured the essence and history of sport while the type was distinctly American and almost Hollywood-esque.
Their Original Logo
I wasn’t a fan of their original logo, especially the gradient. Usually they apply a very large drop shadow to it and their print materials suffer. I’m working on one of their new brochures right now (hopefully logo sans-shadow).
They felt the logo I designed was too far from their current branding and decided to go for a more conservative approach. They asked me to simply apply a banner and the website to the lower section of the logo. You win some you lose some. I’m not a logo designer by trade but this one was a heart breaker. It was the first logo I ever made that I actually liked.
